Graeme has over 35 years experience in the design and management of road and infrastructure networks. Prior to joining Essency, Graeme worked for Mouchel Consulting, initially in the UK as director of asset management and as their business improvement and sales director for infrastructure design and maintenance projects. For the last 3 years he was based with Mouchel Consulting in the Middle East working successfully to reform the quality of their service and achieve their growth aspirations in the highways and infrastructure markets in the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Before joining Mouchel, Graeme’s work for 19 years was as an infrastructure design engineer and manager with Atkins for highway maintenance projects. He set-up Atkins’ specialist division in asset management and worked for Atkins advising governments internationally in countries such as Malaysia, India and Russia on transport privatisation and institutional reform. In 1996 he was appointed as Operations Director for Connect Roads on their various Private Finance (DBFO) projects. This lead to his appointment in 2000 as Managing Director of Dynatest UK Ltd, a specialist company in asset management, where he worked for 3 years before joining Mouchel Consulting in 2003.
Key attributes in his achievements are his ability to create effective partnerships (internally and externally) through strong and extensive networks and an aptitude to think differently for himself and to encourage others to do likewise. His understanding of process, appreciation of the need for clear governance and all-round grasp of technical and contractual matters relating to asset management means he is able take complex issues and present these to his peers and colleagues in concise and manageable ways. This allows key issues such as risk to be considered and accounted for on Lean principles when developing alternative and innovative commercial solutions.
